The Tradesmen’s Commission of Bülbülzade Foundation organized a program at the foundation center on Friday, December 26, where the historical background of the Defense of Antep and its lesser-known aspects were presented.
Despite hunger, deprivation, and all kinds of sieges, Gaziantep is the name of a will that never bowed down, that did not surrender the honor of the sacred homeland to the enemy with its 6,317 martyrs; a will where faith rose where all means had ended, carrying belief in its stones and soil, and courage in its heart. It is the epic of a total struggle involving children and youth, the elderly, women and men alike. It is an epic shaped by the faith of Şahin Beys, Şehit Kamils, Karayılan, Abdullah Edips, and Happas.
On the 104th anniversary of the liberation of Gaziantep, this epic resistance and spirit of heroism were once again commemorated with a special program held at Bülbülzade Foundation. Eczacı Hüseyin Rahmi Açıkkol, Researcher-Writer İbrahim Alisinanoğlu, Researcher-Writer Asım Mıhçıoğlu, and Businessman Mustafa Uncuer attended the program titled The Defense of Antep as speakers. The historical process of the Defense of Antep, the unforgettable memories of that period, and the lesser-known aspects of the defense were shared.
We commemorate our martyrs with mercy, express our gratitude to our veterans, and also pray for mercy upon our heroic veterans who are no longer with us.
