East Turkestan university students who are volunteers with the Drop of Mercy Association visited the Bülbülzade Foundation and examined the work carried out by our foundation on site.
As part of the visit, the students toured the Middle East Media and Communication Center, İstikrar Sports Club, Katre Science and Art Center, television studio, as well as Fecr and Şafak radio stations located within the foundation building, and had the opportunity to examine the media activities being carried out on site. Following this brief tour under the guidance of Foundation Secretary General Adem Er, the students met with Bülbülzade Foundation Chairman Turgay Aldemir. During the meeting, which took place in a sincere atmosphere, the transformative power of civil diplomacy in today's world was mainly discussed. Emphasizing at the meeting that civil diplomacy is one of the most important tools of outreach and communication of the 21st century, Aldemir drew attention to the importance of producing solutions before crises grow. Stating that after wars, it is only possible to heal the wounds, Aldemir expressed the need for negotiators who can step in before conflicts break out and resolve problems.
THE GREATEST DANGER: A MASS WITHOUT AN IDEA
Global issues were also addressed during the meeting through Hannah Arendt's concept of the "banality of evil." The importance of taking a conscientious stance in humanitarian crises occurring on the international stage was emphasized. Stating that evil is not assumed by anyone, Aldemir drew attention to the fact that the greatest danger in the world is masses without ideas who can harm anyone at any moment, and stated that serious work needs to be carried out at the international level.
At the end of the visit, various books were presented to the students. Welcoming the invitations of the East Turkestan youth to Istanbul with pleasure, Turgay Aldemir stated that the foundation's doors are always open to them and expressed his hope for a return visit.
