The Migrant Services Center held a comprehensive focus group meeting with university students, addressing critical issues including Türkiye–Syria relations, return processes, and university tuition fees.
Operating under the umbrella of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, Gaziantep Governorship, and the Bülbülzade Foundation, the Migrant Services Center has accelerated its efforts to promote social cohesion and develop future-oriented strategies. With the aim of reflecting the dynamism of academia and youth in its fieldwork, the unit organized a focus group meeting attended by university students. During the meeting, which was shaped by the vision and expectations of young people, regional developments and the current challenges faced by youth were evaluated from multiple perspectives.
THE NEW SYRIA EQUATION THROUGH THE EYES OF YOUNG PEOPLE
The main agenda items of the meeting included the reflections of the new era in Türkiye–Syria relations, safe and voluntary return processes, and proposed solutions regarding university tuition fees. During the session, where the importance of the youth perspective in policy-making roles was emphasized, participants shared their views on the social, economic, and academic dimensions of the process. In light of the data obtained from these discussions, the Migrant Services Center outlined the roadmap for new projects and areas of joint cooperation to be implemented in the coming period.
THE SERIES OF MEETINGS WILL CONTINUE WITH LEGAL PROFESSIONALS
The unit, which attaches importance to involving different professional groups and stakeholders in the process, will continue its series of focus group meetings without interruption. Following this first session with university students, a meeting will be held with legal professionals next Friday to discuss the legal framework, international law dimension, and rights-based approach to the issue in detail.
