Mozaik Women and Family Association launched its new working period with a broadly attended meeting held at Bülbülzade Foundation.
Mozaik Women and Family Association held the opening of its 2026-2027 in-service program and new term activities on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 17:30 in the Winter Garden of Bülbülzade Foundation. During the meeting, the heads of the association’s different units took the floor, evaluated the activities carried out in the previous term, and shared their future goals. In the event, which was held with intense participation, the importance of civil society activities and social solidarity came to the forefront.
KNOWLEDGE AS RESISTANCE
Rabia Aldemir, President of the Association, who delivered the opening speech of the meeting, drew attention to the dangers brought by technological developments and made warnings regarding Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) addiction. Stating that global technology lords are trying to standardize people, Aldemir expressed that Islamic sciences and civil society organizations constitute an area of resistance against this cultural hegemony. Quoting the Palestinian writer Wael Hallaq, Aldemir argued that knowledge is a form of resistance.
THREE DIFFERENT EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Sena Bozcan, head of the Children’s Activities Unit, announced that they would provide educational programs in three different sessions on Saturdays in the new term. Bozcan stated that they would support children’s development through activities such as values education, sirah, the Holy Qur’an, and English speaking clubs. She announced that the first gathering would be held on Saturday, September 26, at 10:00, accompanied by a breakfast program with the participation of parents. The Secondary Education Unit also reported that they would organize nature camps and various activities for seventh and eighth-grade students and high school students. It was shared that a lunch organization with young people would be held on October 3.
A PERMANENT SCHOOL IN NURDAĞI
Seyre Batuk, head of the Anatolian Student Union, stated that they planned periodic lessons, cinema days, home visits, and book reading activities with university students. She also noted that they would begin providing a monthly scholarship support of two thousand five hundred Turkish liras to students as of October 15 and requested financial support from participants. Speaking on behalf of the Post-Disaster Coordination Unit, Zemzem Çetin said that they had abandoned old naming practices and focused on improvement efforts for the region. She announced that they would carry out activities for young people in schools in İslahiye and Nurdağı and gave the good news that they would start the construction of a permanent school in the center of Nurdağı.
SUPPORT TO MORE THAN FIVE THOUSAND CHILDREN
Yasemin Aksu from the Aid Store Unit spoke about projects to improve the physical space and establish a library. Aksu also added that the store team had started broadcasting a program every Saturday at 17:00 on Şafak Radio. Şehadet Gerçek, head of the Migration Unit, explained that the integration and educational activities carried out for Syrian migrants since 2011 had transformed into steps towards peace and reconstruction. Hatice Sohbet, representative of the Hayata Dokun Orphan Association, stated that they work with more than five thousand orphan children and more than one thousand orphan mothers, emphasizing that they provide vocational courses and literacy education for women. She expressed that scholarships had been provided to sixty-five university students through groups established within the association.
In the final part of the meeting, Zehra Aybar stated that the BİLİM-DER team was planning a comprehensive event between October 9-12. Rukiye Kaplan, representative of Pusula Bookstore, stated that they had transformed the entrance section of the venue into a café and made it more suitable for intensive use by students. The meeting concluded with messages of thanks presented to all participants and a commemorative photo session.
