The Katre Science and Art Center’s Art Films Series continued its December screening at the Zade Life Hotel cinema hall with the film A Separation (Jodaeiye Nader az Simin). Released in 2011, the film won the Golden Bear for Best Film at the 61st Berlin Film Festival, becoming the first Iranian film to receive this award. It also earned the Silver Bear awards for Best Actor and Best Actress. A Separation won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th Academy Awards. During the screening and analysis, the influences of Iranian cinema, character studies, and scene sequences were evaluated.
The event, moderated by Katre Science and Art Center Board member Yılmaz Ergen, became interactive with the participation of young attendees. Before and after the screening, productive discussions were held on the philosophy and overall message of the production. The “Art Films Series” screenings and analyses organized by the Katre Science and Art Center will continue regularly on the first Tuesday evening of every month with the participation of cinema enthusiasts.
