Mozaik Women and Family Association analyzed Halide Edip Adıvar’s novel Sinekli Bakkal, with moderation by Fadime Eminoğlu and a presentation by Gülcan Aydağ.
Operating under the umbrella of the Bülbülzade Foundation, the Mozaik Women and Family Association hosted this month’s edition of its traditional book analysis programs by featuring Sinekli Bakkal, the immortal work of Halide Edip Adıvar, one of the cornerstones of Turkish literature. The event, held at the Zeugma meeting hall of Zade Life Hotel, was moderated by Fadime Eminoğlu, while the book presentation was delivered by Gülcan Aydağ. The use of setting, characterization, language, and style in Sinekli Bakkal—a novel that seeks reconciliation between religion and art, and between tradition and modernity amid Turkey’s struggles with modernization—were discussed in depth.
The book analysis concluded after a question-and-answer session with the participants.
